    Dear Karoo stakeholders

This is to confirm that the Karoo Development Foundat ion (KDF) supports Photos
of Af rica in their creation of a DVD on the Karoo. It would be very useful to
promote tourism to al l four Karoo provinces (Nor thern Cape, Western Cape,
Eastern Cape and southern Free State) .
The Karoo Foundation strongly believes that the Karoo has a great deal of
economic potential , par t icularly wi th regards to tour ism. The main highways (N1,
N9, N10 and R62) , will link the 2010 host cities (Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and
Bloemfontein) , via road travel through the Karoo. The DVD would be a valuable
asset to promote the attract ions of the towns located on the Karoo Highways
amongst South Af r ican and international visitors. There will also be scope to
encourage tourists to explore more remote Karoo areas, particularly its game
    reserves and game farms.
In addition, the website (www. realkaroo.co.za) will profile accommodation, crafts
and events throughout the Karoo. Mr Dave van Reenen, Ms Glywnnis Wel ls, and
Ms Helen Bur ton will lead this initiative.
The Foundation will assist in alerting stakeholders and audiences about the Karoo
DVD and the website, which will increase the impact of market ing in the Karoo.
We invite Karoo stakeholders and entrepreneurs to assist these initiatives, where
    possible.
    Please contact me on (051) 773 024 or cel l 083 74 5461 or karoo@intekom.co.za
for fur there information on these projects.

    Yours sincerely
